RECORDER-REPRODUCER, SOUND
(DICTATING AND TRANSCRIBING MACHINE,
COMBINATION STANDARD CASSETTE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This description covers combination dictating-transcribing machines.
Salient characteristics.
Design. Design shall be such as to provide for ease of use with all operating controls easily accessible and convenient to the user; with each control marked so as to be readily recognizable as to intended function.
Power. 120 volt AC 60 Hz.
Circuitry. Solid state.
Tape drive. Capstan.
Recording/playback medium. Standard cassette. One cassette shall be provided with each unit.
Recording speed. Manufacturer’s standard.
Recording time (minimum. 60 minutes.
Operational features, functions and controls.
Dictation: Through handheld microphone. Microphone shall be furnished with each unit.
Playback/transcription: Through handheld microphone, console speaker, and earphones, utilizing microphone~ console and a footpedal which shall, at a minimum, have controls for forward (playback) and rewind. Earphones and footpedal shall be furnished with each unit.
Indexing: Electronic (audible, visual (LED) or combination) to mark end of letters and instructions, with transcriber capability to retrieve indexing instructions provided from a compatible dictating machine.
Automatic backspace.
Conference recording capability.
Automatic gain control.
Record function and control.
Cassette not loaded indicator, i.e., LED, audible or no operation.
